I was mistaken about the echo dot it’s actually a 2nd gen. I’ve reset the 2nd gen echo numerous times. No luck
Also for a little more context the 2nd gen echo responds with “sorry I didn’t find smartthings (bedroom, living room, loft whatever the command is)
There is nothing in my code that knows what type of device the command is coming from. I had a Dot before and it would cause issues because of reflected sound.
I would start with the native Amazon app to see exactly WHAT she is hearing. I am betting you will find she is putting living and room together in one word, or hearing something completely different than what you are saying. If that is the case, try to place the Dot on something soft (Like a towel) to keep down the reflected sound.
Let me know if that helps at all.
That is why I changed the names of the rooms as it heard something different. my family room is now den.

Thanks Michael, At a glance it didn’t appear there was anything specific to your code. The question was more of a general Alexa bug question.
When looking at the response cards, for whatever reason alexa seems to not under smart things. I.e Alexa is showing “ask smart things what the status of the bedroom is” as opposed to “ask smartthings what the status of bedroom is” which is what is used to invoke the app…
Maybe I need to change smartthings to smart things?
I posted this comment above actually ([RELEASE] Ask Alexa). Some changes happened on the Amazon side of things that it seems to randomly get confused with the word SmartThings. I even changed mine to “Smart Things” and it made a world of difference.

Yep changing the invoke command from “smartthings” to “smart things”, fixed all my issues I was having.
I would also like to note that I did redo the learn my voice walkthrough in the Alexa app prior to changing the invoke command. It did not make a difference.
All all three rooms work as expected now.

Everything installed and works appropriately. However after initially performing personalization setup I can no longer access it. When I hit personalization in settings it comes back with "something’s wrong. We can’t load your screen right noire. " any suggestions on how to resolve this?
Very odd…I can’t reproduce this. Do you recall what values you might have changed right before you came up with this error? I recommend you also go to live logging, then attempt to go to this screen and see if a red error comes up…that will allow me to determine exactly what is wrong.
I will have to pull it up when I get home. However I did do the app setup prior to doing Amazon lambda and aws so that could potentially be the issue.
The app, at least for this page, is separate from the Lambda. Let me know what you find out. Sometimes that error is on the SmartThings side.
My reporting also stopped working (not sure when but definitely not working today) and I changed the invocation name to Smart Things (with a space) in the Alexa dev console and in the Ask Alexa App and it is working again (Thank God)! I wonder what Amazon did to cause this to be needed?
Hmmm. I just changed mine and it came back ok. Not sure what is going on but will need anyone seeing this to send me a extract from their live logging.
I set it back to no space in both places and it fails again. I checked my Alexa App and I am not even getting a card reported in Alexa. Changed it back to a space in Alexa Dev console and left it no space in Ask Alexa app and works again. I will post my IDE logs if you think it will help but since Alexa is not generating a card then there is nothing getting to the IDE. With the space, my logs look exactly as I would expect.

When I JUST change the name in the app, it works fine. And the app and the developer area have no ‘connection’. Now, the app and the Lambda have a connection, so the steps to reproduce this will be very telling.

Can you post a screenshot? Also try to limit the log to Ask Alexa (at the top of the screen).
Also, are we talking about the same thing with the Personalization page not showing up or a reporting issue? If we are talking about a reporting issue let’s take this up custom PM.
