Look in your Alexa App (not the ST one)…it may indicate where your issue is…does it work without a PIN? (i.e. you turn off the PIN in the settings).
Wait, what? We’ll be able to access modes and routines from Alexa, but they still need to reside in ST. But we’ve had that capability already via virtual switches.
What’s changing w/r/t modes and routines is that the clunky hack of using a virtual switch to trigger the mode or routine will no longer be necessary, right? (At least, that’s how I understand it…)
If I understand your post, yes…Ask Alexa will allow you to natively change your modes, routines, and SHM settings.
Yes! No more virtual switches. Set up your routines to change the modes and set up lighting routines and just tell Alexa to change the mode, our rune this routine.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought so. Since Amazon briefly previewed and pulled back some Routines feature in the Alexa app in Dec. 2015, I thought maybe I’d missed something. (I think there’s a Reddit thread about that, if anyone is curious.)

This is looking really great! I’m on vacation, and I will set everything this weekend. Because all my devices are named in french, I used the group feature in Alexa app to rename them in english. This way, I could speak to them in english with Alexa, and see them in french in ST.
When you will have the group feature, will it be the way to go? 1 group for 1 device or more so I can name them in english for Alexa?

I should have the group feature ready within the next four weeks…I recommend waiting until some of the bugs are worked out and the new version is released to ensure you get a good experience with it.

Let me know if Keith’s suggestion works…In the instructions you are directed to open the Lambda account first, but I can certainly change the order if it is really needed (I am not sure they are linked as they can be different accounts)…Either way, let me know.
Ok, As suggested I continued on and created the Skill in the Amazon Dev site.
I get to ARN number field, but I can’t enter it because one has not been created in Lambda because I cannot get that far.
So now I’m really stuck.
Ok…you may want to call Amazon as I can’t figure out what is going on…have you used another browser? I know you should have more of a list than what you sent.
If you go back to lambda, does the skill kit show up now?
Question re the Reports feature, in particular, what can it report on for a motion sensor.
I’m away from home right now so can’t test directly. This new solution has my mind buzzing 
Can the report feature say when motion was last recorded for a particular sensor?
My use case is as follows: we have three big dogs, my wife and I are always asking each other…“did you feed them?” as they scoff their grub as soon as we put it down. To avoid feeding them twice, I placed a motion sensor inside their food bin which triggers a text to me when motion is detected. That works great for me but as I’m not wanting to spam wife and kids with same info, they’re none the wiser if I fed the hounds without them noticing…
Seeing AskAlexa in action last night, now I’m thinking can Report read that out. "Alexa, run report Name… " yet to play with naming but cool if it said …Dogs Fed at 10am Today…

I know this isn’t nearly as cool… But until that feature gets installed I have a psuedo work around for you.
If you look in the Alexa app in the skills section you will find a skill called baby stats. You just say Alexa, tell baby stays to add a feeding and she does. Then you ask when the last one was and she tells you.
My wife and I use it for our baby… But, well… Fur babies need some love too!

Question re the app you’ve mentioned “Roger” I’ve search for this in the Apple iOS store, but could not find it. Do you know the app vendors name, perhaps I can search on that instead??

At this time, it only shows current state when you run the report…However, you bring up an interesting use case. Some folks have brought up event polling in the past and I now know how to do it, but couldn’t think of a use case…The event logs are ‘funny’ at best, but I will put this on my list of possibilities in the future. It may be a while…as you can imagine, the next couple months are going to be filled with this and the roadmap I already have.

I’m pretty sure it’s on ios. I use it on my android and just never got around to downloading it to my ios.
Link to the Roger app. I am running a beta right now that should be released “soon”, I had a problem with the current release where it would occasionally start repeating “okay” from Alexa. It didn’t happen right away, so it may not happen to everyone. But the beta hasn’t done that, so when that comes out, it should be better. Other thank that, this app really rocks!

I think the ability to get at the last status change time for Things is a really important aspect that is overlooked in ST. In particular say checking when/where there was last motion detected in the house if checking on an elderly relative remotely or when a door was opened/unlocked.
I appreciate this remote aspect isn’t the purpose of Ask Alexa (although possible with Roger) and maybe I’m unfamiliar with some other SmartApp that already provides this functionality (as viewable text via the ST app) but I just wanted to register another vote for adding this as an voice report capability sometime in the future.
BTW Thanks Michael & Keith for such amazing work on these apps - I got both installed without a hitch - Kudos to the great documentation effort and the exemplary support you offer here.
