Yes there are 22 supported button values now so assigning different values to button 1 would work fine for this switch to use central scene. For devices with a large number of buttons and actions though, this is where things start breaking down. However as @JDRoberts mentioned there isn’t a UI to easily do this for the end user. NodeJS which is being used now for zwave in Home Assistant has a simple web based UI to change settings and associations. Smartthings relies on complex Groovy programming. Once a DTH is written, the interface to change settings in the new app for the end user is pretty easy, but developing these device handlers is overly complicated in my opinion.
