New update coming Monday

Considering that was almost all two years ago and I don’t think any firmware for V1 has been released you can safely figure barring something big never will be.

Yes, its just smart!

OK, so…(first of all, thank you. I definitely see and agree with your point, but for everyone that NEVER sees any of that, just like I never did…) technically, according to those statements, it is still conceivably possible that there could be a firmware update released for v1 Hubs.

Therefore, I still say they should clearly state which version a firmware update is for when released.

I will check the firmware version immediately at 4 p.m. GMT and then I will log in here to tell everyone I haven’t received it yet.

I will then look for any issues and immediately blame the firmware. Thanks for the heads up ya’ll.

Agreed. Pretty sure the update is for v2 only though. Easy way to find out. Does your version do OTA update for other zigbee devices? If so, then there’s hope. If not, well then…

Ya, I already know this one is for v2 only.
I’m just saying that the only reason I know that is by decoding it from the text of the message.
Why can’t they just include that in the title of the announcement?

Good point.

While v1 is said to work for the foreseeable future, it functions because of the cloud. With technology, time is a killer, and the fact the v2 has been out for a long while, it’s dead with respect to new features and IMO, has been for a while. ST won’t announce the death-nail until it becomes incompatible with the cloud, at which point, it will break and cease to function. Short of some security flaw (that would result in a PR nightmare), I suspect there will be no updates. Nothing against ST, the hub works and for now v2 is their future. Ironically, if we actually got local processing the way people have begged for years now, v1 would likely already be dead (again just my opinion).

Have you thought of upgrading to v2? I know there are many holdouts, just curious what your reasons are.

There’s no voltage coming back to the batteries. The problem has been draining the batteries quite rapidly made worse by shitting Rayovac batteries that leak easily when flat. Hopefully the firmware will fix this. Sad ST never formally acknowledged the problem and still haven’t advised users to check their batteries

You are incorrect, there is .028 Volts DC. I measure with my fluke. Take a good DVOM and measure for yourself.

Edit: I did not use original batteries, I put in fresh Duracell

Here is a reference from yesterday

I just did. 0 volts. Would 0.028V against the batteries cause them to discharge rapidly? Also measured the batteries that came out of the hub and they were dead flat, despite mine not having leaked and this was after just 2 months

I didn’t say anything at all about which version I have.
Which version I have is irrelevant to this issue.
I in fact have both.
However, even if I only had a v2 Hub, so what?
I care about ALL users, and if v1 is still being considered a viable technology by the company that produced it, and if it is still possible to get a v1 firmware update (already established in other comments above), then they should tell us which one an update is for when one is released.

It’s not difficult to do. Just add a note like this to the end of the title of the thread or subject line of an e-mail announcement…

Title/Subject: Hub Firmware Update Something-Or-Other (v2 Only)

Why does such a request make me seem like I have three heads?

Just asked. My bad. Good luck.

Nah…I realize that. Sorry, John.

I just saw this thread and I checked the firmware version on My wink hub… My version 3 hub hasn’t been updated yet and my GE link bulbs are offline in Vera.

What the hell ST… Let’s get it together!

Why support OTA on bulbs that is updated by the HUE hub?
Dont know whats the reason for this option unless there is a thing with Smartthings and Philips in the run.
Time will tell

For those connected directly to ST, bypassing the Hue hub.

I am surprised as well. I thought they would go with GE link bulb first since it’s not very reliable and on the official list.

I was hoping with the recent new that Caseta Wireless would work with SmartThings it would be in there but not sure if it is a SmartThing or a Caseta Wireless to make it work. I have about 15 of the switches in the house and would love to control with Smartthings. there is a delay when going through IFTTT and can’t use as many conditions.

HUE is supported if one use the HUE HUB.
Philips Hue integration requires use of the Philips Hue Ethernet Bridge. Connecting directly to Philips Hue lights is not currently supported.

https://support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/200848024-How-to-connect-Philips-Hue-devices

If ST now supports OTA directly to the bulbs, does not this imply support also for bulbs directly from ST?

Correct, BUT you can connect directly, just not advised and without a remote to reset to reset the Hue bulb, it cannot be connected to the Hue bridge (switching between ZHA and ZLL).

I guess that’s why they added it.
