So I needed Temperature Sensor for my Fridge (need to keep temperature at certain level because I am storing some medical supplies), so I bough SONOFF SNZB-02P Zigbee Temperature and Humidity Sensor, which should do quite fine… Since this is my first Zigbee device I had no idea how this works, but I was told I will need a Zigbee Gateway… So I bought Loocam Zigbee 3.0 Wired Smart Gateway. Problem is that I forgot to read the small print that this only works with Loocam devices (so my sensor hasn’t arrived yet, but I imagine it won’t work with my Gateway)…
What I would need is cheap Gateway with following requirements:
- my device can connect to it
- gateway exposes local API, so that when gateway is on my home network I can query it (via REST or something)… All my computers are Linux, so I can’t just go and run some windows exe that would do the trick
- Good to have: Android app that I can see the status of my devices (just 1 at the moment)
- Good to have: not limited to 1 company devices
So I have seen several Gateway devices, but they all also seem to work only with devices of same company… Having gateway device that can talk to any (or at least most) Zigbee devices would be nice… I am developer by trade, so I have no problem getting my hands dirty, if I would need to buy certain device and “upgrade” it with custom firmware or something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated… I live in apartment, so gateway range doesn’t need to be that good…
