[OBSOLETE] Integration with HoneyWell TotalConnect Alarm & Monitoring System

Hey @Revs9k01, no problem! I was excited to get it working as well so it’s my pleasure.

Regarding your question, I think this thread has what you’re looking for: Use Alexa to open a Kiwkset lock connected to Smarthings

Wish I could get this going.

I was able to install the device handler, and the tester app. Tester app logged in to totalconnect site fine and I pulled deviceID and location from the livelogs.

Then edited the preferences on the mobile app to add username, password, device and location. However the app just has status as “unknown”. If I look at the livelog, I just get entries like this whenever I hit refresh:

0337fa7c-6283-4a15-96fa-d6806b40eb28 7:10:41 PM: error groovyx.net.http.HttpResponseException: Internal Server Error @ line 82
0337fa7c-6283-4a15-96fa-d6806b40eb28 7:10:41 PM: debug Executed login

I triplechecked that I can login to the totalconnect site with the credentials entered …

any ideas?

EDIT: NEVERMIND. I didn’t manually re-enter the app-id into the appid field. All is GOOD!!

Ever get this to work? I seem to be having the same problem. It logs in and says it is arming, but doesn’t arm.

Brandon, hoping you can help. When I try to arm, it acts like it wants to and then doesn’t. Here’s what I see.

I’ve made sure IDs are 6 digits, etc. Not sure what else to do.Thanks in advance!

Yes, I needed to use my existing admin account to login to total connect -
it seemed the second account was restrictive in some way. - try are
existing login name/password first and look at the live logging in the
spartthngs page.

Thanks for getting back to me. I got it to work too! Do you have integration with Alexa? That’s my next challenge.

How did you integrate with the Echo Dot? That is the last piece of this puzzle for me.

Thanks!
Chad

Not to get off topic, but the new adds for the dot seem to show them using it without pushing the button, is that no longer a requirement?

Hey guys, through this integration the alarm is turned on and off as if it were a light switch. Therefore, to control it using Amazon Echo/Dot/Tap control it you’ll just need to the virtual light switch used for this integration “Discovered” by Amazon Alexa app through the SmartThings skill.

Also, I think the “Tap” is the only one that requires you hold the button down when giving a command. The Echo and Dot do not.

It should be really easy to set up (I did it with Google Home), however I shut it off because it allows anyone to potentially disarm the house if they can hear and repeat my voice prompt (since my Google Home has picked up the prompt from a TV show playing in another room, I have a concern that someone could yell to it from outside my host). I haven’t found a native way to only allow arming the house, but I was able to allow arming only with Google Home using IFTTT.

I just set mine so that I never actually use the “Home” mode. I made a new mode called “Arrive Home” and I use that in any case where I’d use home. That way the Echo and Google Home can never disarm my alarm but they can Arm it.

Dumb question…which is the devise id and which is loc id?

Hmmm, I don’t think any of that is either. Both IDs should be numerical.

how do you install this

you have to add test different from the first one you added

i dont have a setting button on the top right hand of my total control app in smart things where do you guys see this to add location?

hello brandon.
i followed all of your steps and everything seemed to work well besides the
fact that i dont have a option or setting button above the total connect app inside
of the smartthings app. to set up location and device Can you help with this?

Hello there triggeract!

I Would just like to say thanks to you and all the other Smarthings Community
for Keeping me sain for one, and taking the time to post here regarding this wonderful app.
I started off several days ago on my journey, and it was a long one trying to get this app to work,
and i am happy to say that today was the day… I had followed every step starting with the guy who created it all the way up until yours, and i could not figure out for the life of me what i was doing wrong… i then gave it a rest for a couple of days, took a peak at the form whenever i wasnt working and noticed a few people who said that they were having the same problems that i was having, and noticed it had everything to do with the prompted password when arming/dissarming the alarm, i canceled that and voila, here we are it is working flawlessly… i am now trying out how to get it to work with the home buttons arm/ armed away, and arm stay… Does anyone know how to add this feature? thanks in advance!

Hello.

While following your steps for setting
up zones. I noticed that you said assign to the proper location, How
would i do that? Thanks in advance!

Hi David, I’m not quite sure what your question is specifically asking. Are you saying you’re now able to manually trigger the alarm system to turn on and off using the TotalConnect device in the SmartThings app, but you’re not sure how to have SmartThings automatically control it?

If so, then the answer is to simply setup an automation to “Turn On” the device as a light switch to set it to Stay, “Lock” the device as a lock to set it to Away, and “Turn Off” as a light switch or “Unlock” as a lock to Disarm the system.

Hope this helps!
