I’ve gone through my house now and I’ve pretty much automated most everything that I could (within reason). Now, I’m just looking for excuses to automate the ‘little’ stuff like a small walk-in closet (so small that only one person at a time can actually stand in that room). Must…feed…my…HA…addiction…haha. I know, I know, how hard is it to flip a switch while walking into the closet and then flipping it off on the way out? But it’s all about convenience, no matter how small, right? Where are all those people who thought the first TV remotes were ‘stupid’? I mean how hard is it to get off your butt and change the TV channel? Apparently, really hard!
So I justified it and started shopping for a motion detector and a switch but as I was shopping I realized that besides simply turning the light on and off based on occupancy, there wasn’t much more that I would do in that room. With further thought, I figured, why spend about $70 when I could simply spend about $11 for a ‘dumb’ motion detector switch and it would do exactly what I wanted.
Moral of the story it that sometimes, it’s best to just ‘K.I.S.S.’…now I wonder what it would take to automatically open and close the toilet lid?
