well if the upcoming fix is for dimmer issues that is not my problem. I specificially have no dimmers in my routines and they still fail to fire or do all steps regularly
Did you check the live logging for any clues? I noticed one of my routines had a time out error, but it ran through. And I only have local devices plus Hue now… still monitoring…
You May already know this, but there are two smart apps in the marketplace section of the SmartThings mobile app that let you use Virtual switches with IFTTT. One associates a virtual switch with a mode, and the other associates a virtual switch with a routine ( formally called hello home phrases) . They are in the lights and switches section of the marketplace.
So it is a couple of extra steps, but it’s fairly straightforward. You just create a virtual switch, assign it to the mode or the routine you want to have run, and then use turning that virtual switch on as the “that” in your IFTTT recipe.
I agree it would be nicer if we could do it directly through IFTTT, but at least you can get the same functionality.
last two days they totally failed to run…nothing in the logs. .but there was motion in the morn in the logs but they never triggered.
no I didn’t thanks… I knew I could manually set up a virtual switch to do it… but didn’t bother… the only virtual I have set up is for the outdoor lights because there are 3 sets of lights I wanted to control with one recipe… but I will set up a couple one for good morning and one for good night.
thanks
ahhh still have to manually create the virtual switch bummer
I used an on/off tile for the virtual switch for the lights… what device type do I use for the ifttt for firing off a routine?
momentary button tile does not work… you don’t really want a switch because it is really not on or off.
you want it to fire whenever it is pushed regardless of state of switch.
momentary button tile is picked up by ifttt app so alexa can see it but not by the smart app… I guess I will have to modify the smartapp to use that device as well as switches.
the smartapp does pickup the monentary button tile… you first have to add it to a room, but then doesn’t work correctly as it requires you to add an action for both on and off. I will rewrite it to only require on… bummer because then it will not run locally, but it should be a monentary button tile and only one action really for ifttt and anything to run a routine…I will change name to routine instead of home action as well.
new bug in ide. I cannot get the source of an existing smart app.
It only refreshes the code pane when it is in view… so if you scroll down and select a different smart app and then scroll back up to see the code. it is not refreshing… I have tried in both ie. and chrome…
Are you referring to, “Create SmartApp”, “From Template”? or if something else… what specifically?
(I have noticed any problem similar to what you describe.)
yes create smart app from template. if you scroll down to selecdt a template at the bottom the code window scrolls up…
when you pick a template and window is not in view it is no longer seleting that template and changing what is in the code window… this used to work.
I think it is bugs in the html I cannot get it to select switch activates home phrase for the life of me…
I don’t experience the problem with various Templates, … except I do actually reproduce your observation with the one you mention: “Switch Activates Home Phrase”.
My guess, actually, is … that particular template is missing.
(You / we can activate Chrome Console / Debugger for more clues.)
EDIT: There are actually a few / several Templates that fail to load; starting with Switch Activates Home Phrase, Working from Home, etc. … I don’t see a pattern in which are failing.
I presume the Table of Contents is just out of date with the actual set of Template Data… @slagle?
ya thanks… doesn’t matter someone already created the smartapp I was trying to do by modifying that one to support a momentary button tile… I found it here
At least now if the damn routine fails to fire again I can just tell alexa to trigger good morning…
as a side note I supposed there is not a way to have a button dismiss any alerts so I can also have it do that when the alarm triggers because the routine did not?
There is a way to dismiss SHM alerts.
