Momentary switch as standard option not a virtual switch?

IS there a way to do a momentary switch instead of a regular switch in smartthings. Though I have used used some virtual momentary switches that some other community members have so graciously created for us to use and I do thank them for their work; I really dont want an extra switch nor do I want to have the other switch still showing up as on or off. I have a fireplace that sadly is dumb. I was able to use the new or newer bond edge driver. Unfortunately though my fireplace uses a single button to turn it on or off with remote same scenario with the rest of the buttons on remote. You just cycle through the options with a button not being able to utilize any of the options that smartthings has. I would like to change these to momentary switches or buttons instead of on and off. It would also help in scenes

If you have a hub, the vEdge Creator Edge driver can create Virtual Momentary switches. If you don’t need the separate Alexa contact sensor, it will appear as a single device.

Funny you mention an external assistant. I use smartthings as the back end but for my wifes sake and the fact that we have so many google hubs we have google home as well. Obviously im not asking for something that change the options in google home but as this is where I am able to set up all my devices and such i though i would ask if there is an option. My problem is that if I add a virtual switch it means any other ecosystem smartthings is linked to will also have the original switch and the virtual switch showing. Sadly it seems I missed the times when you could select what you wanted to import into other systems. If there is a way as you mentioned above i would love to hear it.

Can’t you just use a scene for that? (manually run routine).

It’s basically a momentary switch, you run the scene and the action executes. I have a few named “Toggle Hallway lights” and such.

It really just seems unnecessary to have to do that. I went with what was mentioned above then I removed the original devices from the devices being used check list. Surprisingly it did remove the original switches from google home list and only shows the momentary switch. Of course google home app isn’t as sophisticated yet to have an form of switch other than basic switch but as it is overall working in smartthings it does seem like it will work better in google home now as well. I did learn something new though. I didn’t think I would be able to uncheck the original devices from the devices to be used list and the virtual Switch would still work. I was adding some virtual switches to my network closet room to be able to run some things but it still felt cluttered and unnecessary.
