Has anyone migrated a Hue Bridge to a Hue Bridge Pro?
Do you loose everything in SmartThings and have to reimport everything and build all your light automations again?
Or is it an easy migration?
Thanks

It depends on how you have the current hub bridge connected to SmartThings - Cloud to Cloud, Matter, or direct LAN connection. The migration of the Bridge to Bridge Pro is pretty simple in the Hue App. I did not have the cloud to cloud connection so I don’t know if it updates the hub with ST and you are good to go. I was using Matter at the time and i suspect it applies to the direct connection too. I added the bridge pro to ST and ended up with duplicate devices with 1, i believe, appended to the end of the names. I updated any Routines to point to the new ones. Remove the old hub and all devices. Then renamed the new devices by removing the 1.
I don’t know if there is an easier method now. Note: I added mine about 9 months ago I believe.
Thanks for the reply. I’m using direct LAN connection.
So it sounds like you have to go in and kind of resetup all your Routines, while it didn’t actually delete them (which is really good), you still have to go into each routine and change the device and set it’s light level and colors which will be a bit of a pain.
Thanks again.
as long as you do not remove the old bridge and devices until you edit the Routines first.
I’m using the community based Edge hue driver and only import zones rather than the actual lights. I’ve 60+ hue devices and had two older hubs. The move was fairly ok. Maybe 2 hrs effort but was worthwhile and has been a solid as could be since. And more responsive locally
The new hub generates a new ID so it does create duplicate devices using the community driver I wrote. I’m unsure of what the ST drivers do, but imagine it should be similar.
Great. Thank you!
