Measure how long switch is pressed

i have a GE switch.
I was wondering if it is possible to measure how long it is pressed.

i want to use the switch to turn off the alarm.
i saw the double tap example but found my kids mess with the switch too much and double tap it by accident.
so i thought holding down or up the switch for 5 seconds might be a better work around.

but is there an event for switch pressed and switch released, for either the ON or OFF position?

hi @stephanschulz I don’t believe so. I don’t think the switches will send push and held events. In-fact the double tap only works if its in within direct range of the hub and not paired through any routers.

what other strategies are there to get a alarm disable trigger, other then the phone app?
