If im correct, aqura smart locks require the aquare hub & as far as i know schlage doesnt have a matter enabled smart lock.
@Automated_House can you provide the link forbtje yale matter lock on amazon. I cant figure out which one is matter because none of them say it. Thanks.
This is an area where new devices are coming out all the time.
The aqara u200 and U300 are Matter over Thread. You will need a thread border router, but you will not need an aqara hub for those.
The aqara U50 and U100 are Zigbee locks which can be bridged to matter by connecting them to an aqara hub.
Speaking of Matter over Bridge option, SwitchBot also has a lock in this category, which is getting good reviews. You will need the SwitchBot mini hub 2 for the integration.
Itâs one of the least expensive fingerprint reader locks, and has several different options:
The bundle at this link includes the mini hub and the separate keypad::
I canât find it on Amazon. Here it is on Yaleâs online shop:
@Automated_House i found there but not on amazon & you couldnt either so i know im not crazyâŚlol. @JDRoberts i saw that & the aquara but i was trying to atay with something that woud work with the samsung station or my tv. Maybe down the road as more devices cone out i may look to move towrads adding a differnet brand hub.
Has anyone seen any articles about schlage making a matter lock? I cant find anything except that schlage is unable to add matter to its existing line up.
from a Verge article: Schlage plans to introduce a new Matter-enabled smart lock in the future but did not provide a timeline for a release.
@jkp i read something similar but nothing after that. Shame with samsung not utilizing zwave because i would have had no problem buying another schlage. Oh well.
Wish they could add Matter to the Wi-Fi Encode and Connect locks with a firmware upgradeâŚsigh
Question for you/ the group at large⌠I recently bought and installed the âYale Assure Lock SL with Matterâ. It is my first door lock and first matter device, but tons of other HA stuff so a bit of experience in this world.
I have a Smartthings Station and a Nest Display that both act as border routers, so I am covered on that front.
Additionally, I have the lock connected to both the Smartthings Platform (was the first platform I connected it to) as well as my Google Home platform.
The issue is I cannot for the life of me get the Smartthings app to either Lock / unlock the door OR manage guest pin codes via the Smart Lock Guest Access. And sadly that is the only way it is possible with this lock outside of the physical keypad.
For the former when I press the button in the ST app to lock (or unlock) it just spins and does nothing. For the latter when I try to set a code it always just says âSomething went wrong while creating the lock code. Try again.â
On the flip side it locks and unlocks flawlessly in the Google Home app after asking for my pin each time. I feel like the ST app should be asking me for this info as well and maybe that is the issue??
Further, I know that the Smartthings platform can see and âtalkâ to the lock, i.e., it is connected to the thread network because it gets almost immediate status updates from the lock. Meaning it shows âlockedâ moments after I lock it manually or through google home app and vice versa.
Banging my head against the wall as this matter stuff is meant to be âeasyâ, but so far I am not seeing that to be true.
Any help or guidance you or JD, or anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Happy to clarify any points if more information is needed to shape your guidance.
Whatâs the firmware version of your hub?
According to the information section in the ST app when I click on the ST Station it shows:
firmware version: P9500XXU1AXF5
Hub Firmware version: 000.053.00019
Controller version: 1.0.17-8
Says âDevice Firmware is up to dateâ
The production matter-lock driver should have been loaded during device commissioning. There is no specific fingerprint for the Yale, so it will match on the generic deviceTypeID and use the lock-lockalarm profile. It appears there has only been one change to this driver and that was to add Aqara specific support so I donât think loading the beta driver will make a difference.
Yeah it didnât seem to so far. Power cycled the ST Station and the door lock after loading it to no avail.
Should the ST app be asking me for a pin to unlock it like the Google Home app does? Trying to understand what to expect. It just spins and does nada.
Does sound like there is a problem with sending commands to the lock, but not receiving reports.
From looking at the manual, I presume the PIN code is a Google Home thing and not an actual PIN that is set on the lock that is needed for manual locking/unlocking from a Matter controller. If it is something set on the lock that is needed for basic operation, I donât see anything in the ST presentation that would account for submitting a PIN code.
I would suggest installing the ST CLI on a Linux/Windows/MacOS computer and doing driver logging with the command âsmartthings edge:drivers:logcatâ and posting the output here as preformatted text so we can see what is happening when commands are sent to the lock.
With it being a matter based door lock the Yale app doesnât even come into play according to the product specs on their site. Meaning you canât connect to it through the Yale app or manage it in any way.
My Matter devices show both the availableVersion and the currentVersion firmware in the AWA. That should tell if there is a more current version available.
AWA? Not familiar with acronym.
