Looking For An Edge Driver For Aqara Water Leak Sensors

Yeah, my wording was a bit awkward. As you noted the leds don’t flash until you press, I just meant to press each time it’s done flashing from the previous press. You might try removing one of the other paired zigbee devices near the hub and see if that allows the new device to pair. And of course there’s always the possibility of a low battery.

Well it was a painful process but I finally got the 4 devices paired. I decided to check the SmartThings API Browser+ and some how the first device was in the listing even though I never saw it get added through the device add process. But adding the other 3 went a little smoother. I am still not exactly sure what the light patterns on the device mean. But at least they are now usable so I am happy.

I decided to reboot the hub and of course they all showed offline but when I tested them with some water they notified the hub they were wet.

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions.

Installing the Aqara Water Leak Sensor SJCGQ11LM with Samsung SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub

I’d like to share the process I used to successfully install the Aqara Water Leak Sensor SJCGQ11LM. Although an Aqara Hub is officially required, I decided to take the risk and try it with my Samsung SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub. Here’s how I made it work:

Steps:

  1. Open the SmartThings (ST) app on your phone.

  2. Tap Add device and select Aqara Water Leak Sensor T1 from the device list.

  3. Skip scanning the QR code when prompted.

  4. During the “Prepare your device” step, press and hold the top button on the sensor for about 10 seconds.

  5. The app won’t proceed past the current screen, but don’t worry.

  6. Exit the device-adding process and return to the main menu.

  7. You should now see a new device called Zigbee Thing in your device list.

Enabling the Moisture Sensor Driver

Thanks to @Mariano_Colmenarejo , here’s how to enable the correct driver:

  1. Visit this link: SmartThings Edge Drivers Invitation.

  2. Under Available Drivers, locate and install the driver for Moisture Sensors.

  3. Go to SmartThings Advanced Device Settings.

  4. Select Zigbee Thing under the Devices section.

  5. Change the driver to Zigbee Moisture Sensor.

Testing the Sensor

  1. Once set up, place your T1 sensor in water. You should immediately receive a notification from SmartThings confirming it works.

Final Thoughts

This process allows you to use the Aqara Water Leak Sensor SJCGQ11LM with SmartThings despite the lack of official support.

Hi @1nstinct

This method of changing from a zigbee Thing driver to another driver may work, but intermittently the device may appear offline in the app.

This is because changing the driver does not configure the device reports and zigbee Thing driver does not configure any device.

If the smartthings website allows you to change to the zigbee moisture sensor Mc driver, it is because the device fingerprints are in the driver and therefore it should also be paired directly with that driver with the search nearby option.
