I have experienced a deterioration of location accuracy since this update. ST is reporting I have left home when I am still here. I increased from 150m to 300m and I think it has stopped.
Hi, @Andrew_Bartlett
Are you referring to the location service when you select “Get your location from this phone”?
If so, the firmware release shouldn’t affect it since this info is provided by your mobile device to the SmartThings app through the “link” created when you select the option I mentioned before.
We’ve seen reports of this before, the first suggestion is to re-create this link and see if the situation improves:
- Go to Advanced Users app > devices and find the record of your phone, the type must be “mobile”
- Turn off the option of “Get your location from this phone” (Menu > Settings)
- Verify if the record of the mobile device was deleted in Advanced Users App. If not, please delete it directly
- Go to your mobile device’s settings and verify that the SmartThings app has access to your location information (for example: settings > apps > app managment > SmartThings > permissions > “allow all the time”)
- In the ST app enable the option “Get your location from this phone” again.
- After this, collect the app logs just in case because they are lost after 2 or less minutes.
- Take note of the timestamp to be able to get the Cloud logs in case if fails again.
This is to create a fresh “link” between the ST App and your mobile’s phone location info. The engineering team mentioned the app is the one that determines the state of “present”/“not present”.
@jmcclellan, I’m adding you to this thread since you also mentioned having issues with presence, we’re trying to understand the situation to check who should handle this issue. Please check my post above:
I have tried doing this, but it has not resolved the issue. Samsung zfold7 and zflip7 on Tmobile both randomly leave and return since a few days ago. Both phones worked flawlessly for a couple of years before this.
Hi, @executive8468
I suggest you report this to Customer Support so they can escalate it accordingly.
Note: Remember that to open a report of an issue, such as not being able to connect a device, you need to reproduce the issue first and follow the steps below immediately after.
- Open the SmartThings app
- Go to the menu tab at the bottom-right corner.
- On this page, select the option “Contact Us” and then go to “Error reports”
- Select the topic related to your issue and follow the steps to submit your support request
- On the page where you need to describe the issue, leave the “Send app log” option enabled since this will send the app logs to the corresponding team.
I do not have a menu tab at bottom right. I also do not have an option for “Error reports” under “contact us”.
