Kono Z Thermostat - Heating Setpoint won't change

I purchased 2 Lux KonoZ Thermostats back in 2020 when they first came out and was incredibly excited as I got them on a huge deal (my company purchased Lux). I set them up in Summer and they worked flawlessly, changing setpoint with my automations and voice control via Alexa however this was during summer…

When winter came, the setpoint wouldn’t change through ST app, automations, or through Alexa, nothing would work. I would have to change them manually when going to bed, leaving the house, etc.

I called Lux and tried to get customer support, but they couldn’t figure out what was happening and couldn’t provide support. I even tried to 3 way them in with Samsung to provide support but that didn’t go well. Basically, Samsung pointed the finger at Lux and vice versa, leaving me still stuck. Fast forward to the end of 2021, I was able to get Lux to send me 2 replacement thermostats. I set them up and they have the exact same problem. Cooling setpoint works, fan responds properly, and the cooling/heating state changed appropriately, but the heating setpoint still won’t change. I am able to press setpoint up or down, the temperature will adjust accordingly, but a loading wheel will appear shortly after and then the temperature will remain exactly as it was before I tried to adjust, as if nothing ever happened.

I also previously attempted to replace the original driver with a generic zigbee thermostat driver and that didn’t help.

Please. Help. Me.

I also have 2 Lux KONOZ thermos, but they’re working great with ST. I can definitely change the heating setpoint with either the mobile app, Alexa or Routines.

Mine are still using ST’s stock DTH called “Zigbee Thermostat” instead of their Edge driver. Here’s how it joined:

The behavior you are describing sounds like an ST issue and not a Lux issue. It’s too bad Live Logging isn’t in the IDE anymore because these thermostats and ST’s DTH were chatty and provided decent info, but now we’re out of luck. You could try removing these and rejoining them to see if that helps, or maybe even see if it picks up an Edge driver. Lux is in the Edge driver now:

A few questions?

  • What happens when you tap on the setpoint value? Is the range 32 to 104, or something else? There was an ST issue I had emailed in about a few months ago where setpoints were stuck in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit.
  • Are you an Android or iOS mobile app user? If you have access to one of those other devices, are you experiencing the same issue with the other mobile OS?
  • Can you control the thermostat via https://my.smartthings.com/?

Not to ask a stupid question, how do I even login to the IDE anymore? I can’t find the link any longer. I have removed the thermostats numerous times before and re-added them with no luck however, but that was before the Edge movement.

To answer your questions:

  • What happens when you tap on the setpoint value? The setpoint value changes but whatever position I press (either positive or negative) is instantly covered by a loading wheel and then reverts back to the setpoint it was already at. Is the range 32 to 104, or something else? 32.0-104.0 There was an ST issue I had emailed in about a few months ago where setpoints were stuck in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. My temperatures have always shown in Fahrenheit and have mirrored whatever is on the thermostat LCD display
  • Are you an Android or iOS mobile app user? iOS mobile app userIf you have access to one of those other devices, are you experiencing the same issue with the other mobile OS?I don’t have anything with Android on it anymore, it’s been 5+ years
  • Can you control the thermostat via https://my.smartthings.com/? No I cannot

No worries! Try this link : http://ide.smartthings.com/

Thanks for those answers. The only thing I can think of now is to try and remove the device from ST and rejoin it.
