So I just bought the Philips Hue light with the bridge. I noticed they had a feature on their app the customize routines. I assume this lets you choose what colors you want your lights to be at certain times of the day. So I had all my routines set up, like “Evening” and “DayTime” and such. But here is my issue, if I have my routines on, then go to turn my light off, the routine will turn it back on. I just thought routines affected the color of the bulb (regardless of its “on” or “off”. I didn’t know it would turn the lights on. So I guess what I’m asking is if there is a way to have the routine still “on”, but not have it turn the lights on. I only wanted routines activated for color purposes mainly, that way the lights were a specific color at a certain time of day.
That definitely sounds frustrating! The fix will depend on your exact setup.
This forum is for people who are using the Samsung SmartThings Home automation platform, so the first question we need to ask is which model of the Samsung SmartThings hub do you have, as things work a little differently with different ones.
The next question is are you talking about “routines” set up in the Philips Hue app or in the SmartThings app? Although there is an official integration between them, each company has their own version of “routines,” and, again, they work a little differently.
(If by chance you don’t have a Samsung SmartThings hub and just found this forum by googling home automation topics, there won’t be much we can do to help you. In that case, your best bet is just to contact Hue support:
