Iphone presence not working unless Smart-Things app left open all the time

Here is what I received from support “ I would like to inform you that we’ve gotten word from our engineers, this is a known issue caused by the iOS 15 update. We are aware of the issue and we continue to investigate.

Since iOS 15, it would seem the SmartThings App is unable to run in the background for as long as it used to be able to. We are looking at ways to resolve this.

Since the App cannot run for as long in the background as it was formerly able to pre-iOS 15, it is not getting sent location information or able to periodically retrieve location information from the phone itself. Opening the App will allow it to get the location information and run in the background for some period of time, but not indefinitely or for as long as it was accustomed to.”

It is annoying that it does work….

For a change, I’m at least pleased to see an acknowledgement of the issue.
