We’ve been robbed twice and a traditional motion sensor saved us the second time, scaring the robbers out the front door. Problem is that in the new house we will trigger the motion sensor too often during the day because the switch location is in a high traffic area. We just want a light to come on if triggered after dark. How would I make this happen? I really want to start using the Smart Things devices but I’m not sure where to start?
You could use a time schedule based on clock time, or a schedule based on mode, or use an actual luminance sensor device (although that can get thrown off by cloudy days).
Using modes or clock time will be easiest. Then you would combine those with one of the scheduler options.
