This looks like it’s from the attributes list in the AWA. Not the same as avents. You are looking at the wrong place, @Huib_o .
This means nothing. Some attributes get updated only once, when the device is added, for example.
From a previous version of your comment:
The fineDustHealthConcern doesn’t really change that often and supportedFineDustValuesgets populated when the device is added, the driver is changed (or when a new supported value shows up).
No way to interpret it as offline.
Scroll down to the Events section …
I checked the temperature of the device on the spot with the Smartthings app in my hand. It was clear the app was not updated while not saying offline.
How many Thread router devices (mains powered Thread devices, like plugs or bulbs) do you have?
Only two mains powered Thread devices, one in the living room and one in the garage. That’s a very weak Thread mesh network.
Go and get those IKEA bulbs this weekend and put at least one in every room.
That may solve it. But my question was: “Why was the Alpstuga not showing offline half of the day?
If I hadn’t seen that the clock was incorrect I may never have discovered it.
The Smartthings app should have given an offline message/alarm. As it does with all my devices on all my locations.
If I have a Matter water leak sensor ,that may be offline without me knowing???. pffff.
Because it wasn’t offline.
The device doesn’t have to send values all the time to stay online and what you are seeing in the events is already filtered.
I’d worry about the completely missing pm2.5 values, which looks like a device issue. So delete the device, factory reset it, add it back again.
Many hours no information. The clock not showing the time.
Temperature on the device 6 degrees lower than in app or Sharptools.
But not offline…. Not in the ST app, not in AWA…
i rest my case. i will stay with z wave for longer distances.
The Alpstuga is working ok now.
I see, in front of me, in the SmartThings app, every few seconds things changing.
So with that in mind I can check myself if it is online.
If the clock shows the wrong time.. The same: device offline.
Especially the carbon dioxide changes every few seconds.
I had that with my Nuki locks once, as first time Matter user. They solved it by updating.
Home Monitor does send notifications when sensors go offline. Plain SmartThings does not.
Zigbee and zwave of course always give alarm/notification via Smartthings app when offline. Immediately!
Now I pulled the batteries out of a Matter Timmerflotte temp sensor, and till now no notification from Smartthings. But after few minutes…..showing offline on the apps homepage at last..
So no a notification from the app.
Alpstuga however, was half a day offline, NOT showing offline on the ST homepage and of course no notification, and showing online in the AWA (“advanced”)
So it works as expected, right? It takes a few minutes until it is marked offline.
Alpstuga however, was half a day offline, NOT showing offline on the ST homepage and of course no notification, and showing online in the AWA (“advanced”)
Because it wasn’t offline. The device just didn’t report anything.
When I was developing the driver for the IKEA VINDSTYRA, I had to reset it up to ten times per hour and every now and then it happened that it was connected and online, but just stuck and didn’t report anything. This can happen, when the sensor itself didn’t “boot up”. Your device didn’t report pm2.5 at all, from what I gathered.
I repeat: your device wasn’t offline and I wonder why you keep insisting that.
Maybe the connection was barely good enough for getting a message through every couple of hours, but the device itself was online the whole time.
Now It’s time to improve your Thread mesh network - until then, your IKEA ALPSTUGA should be placed no farther away than about 10 to 20 meters from your SmartThings hub.
Edit: the device that suddenly seems to be working correctly is the one that you have moved from the garage!
OK. it was not offline, but not responding reporting, or sending data till I moved it to a better location.
For an end user that is the same as offlne.
I MUST know if data is not send. Also for waterleak sensors etc.
the device that suddenly seems to be working correctly is the one that you have moved from the garage!
That is correct. But the device on that garage location had the job to warn against freezing. I have aFibaro Zwave sensor on that location that does the job year after year..
I do respect your know how. I planned however to remove 40 Zwave devices and replace them with Matter. Many of them Fibaro Switches, used for heating devices, but also motion sensors . (burglars)
I will keep testing Matter. As an end user… Not as a programmer. .
A Thread router device every 10 to 20 meters and at least one of them in each room will do the trick.
Yep. I am waiting for the Ikea GRILLPLATS.
But also may try to do testing of the Alpstuga via Sharptools rules. But I am not so good at it.
The “broken” clock told me something was wrong. And the temperature on the device was different from the app.
7,99 €. My Eve Energy where 40 €.
The “broken” clock told me something was wrong.
It’s drifting here so much that I don’t use it as a clock.
The Fibaro Switches were also 40 euro. And only 10 AMP. Not always enough for me. So the 16 amp Ikea…
But I do not want to be stubborn, sticking to Zwave.
So Matter should do it.
Here a Sharptools overview. ( and thats one of four, remote, locations. in two different countries)
Also lot of Zigbee. The Zigbee Aeotec water sensors do fantastic in the deepfreezers as temp meter
When I was developing the driver for the IKEA VINDSTYRA.
Still greatful. i have the ZigBee ones.
