Note that if you order from the official Phillips site (meetHue.com )your Order is being filled by an Irish – owned company which in most cases means you will be charged an international service fee on your credit card. That makes it cheaper to order from Amazon for pretty much everybody.

Interesting. Mine were shipped free, but the company charging me was Irish and my credit card company wanted to apply an international fee. The TOS on the site says it’s an Irish company. I got the fee waived but I had to jump through some hoops.
Could you have somehow been redirected to their .co/ UK site instead of .com/US maybe ?
Maybe, that’s a good question. Anyway, just something to check into when you go to buy there.
Will these be accessible to ST through the hue bridge?
As discussed in the detail thread linked to above, we don’t know yet. It could go either way. For example, if the hue dimmer switch is attached to the Hue bridge, it is invisible to the SmartThings hub and just becomes a parallel means of control. So that might be how this one will work.
The SmartThings hub knows the status of Hue bulbs because it queries the bridge for that status about every five seconds. But the dimmer switch always has a status of ready. It reports its button press to the bridge, but the bridge does not report that button Press to SmartThings. It’s very possible that the motion sensor will work the same way – – it will report activity to the hue bridge, but the hue bridge may not report that activity on to the SmartThings hub. We’ll find out once they arrive.

Well, with the built in illuminance and auto shut off it can pretty much replace with no special smart lighting rules what I’ve got going on with my ST motion/hue bulb combos in my house in three areas. Good enough to test and no loss if no info to ST. Just bonus if so.
Just curious. Why is people ordering the Hue Motion?
Do you really only need automatic light control?
I have motion sensors (Orvibo) tied up to my ST, they control light when motion, but they are also, in some scenarios, used for sending push notification, trigger something else etc.
All that is (maybe) not possible with the Hue Motion, if they are not properly integrated in ST.
And also, why would people have some of their home automation logic in ST and other (light control) in Hue.
I would prefere to have all in one. Why I chose ST over any other system.
For me, it’s because SmartThings just isn’t reliable enough. In the last week there have been multiple problems. Widgets stopped working. Routines stopped working in some cases. Mode changes stopped working in some cases. Multiple problems with the SmartThings/Hue integration. Severe lag at times having a SmartThings branded motion sensor trigger a light to come on (lag timed at as much as 12 seconds). Mobile app requiring frequent login. Geo presence failing in weird ways. False positives on the motion sensor. Smart lighting automations firing multiple times on one day. Light turning off before it was supposed to.
All of that in the last eight days. None of it using custom code. All of it due to platform or hub updates outside of my control.
All of those of been documented in the forums by multiple people and in most cases verified by SmartThings staff. Various corrective fixes have been made, some of which broke in new ways.
Because I have to pay someone else to do any maintenance, even just changing batteries, I have spent about $60 in the last week to get a single lamp and motion sensor combination working properly. And I’m still not sure I’ve succeeded.
And also because I have to have someone else do it, I need a Plan B. The Hue bridge has been very reliable for me.
I’m sure there are other people who have had zero problems in the last week, or who found the fiddly maintenance tasks required to diagnose and fix a problem minor and not too inconvenient.
So I can’t speak to anyone else’s reasons. But for me, I am looking for simple home automation with an MFOP (maintenance-free operating period) Of at least six months.
My expectation based on my experiences with other Hue devices is that the Hue motion sensor will equal or better that. I’m certainly willing to give it a try.
What JD said, and for me a simple, novel concept: it will just work and I don’t need to set complex rules or smart apps to do so. It has onboard the exact feature set I want. I have 160 devices, and this is replacing 3-4 motions in specific areas where all I need is what they offer, with high reliability, and successful local control with no weirdness. That’s what Hue and HomeKit devices have delivered.
