Hub Offline after Firmware Update

@ainokea Did you do a hard-reset, and did it work?

I’m still waiting for a response from ST support, so have tried soft-, and now hard- resets, and nothing works - the hub remains bricked with a solid red LED.

After a hard-reset (hold reset button on power-on, wait >30s for rapid yellow flashing to turn solid yellow, then release the reset button), the hub LED remains off for about a minute, then returns to solid red.

Hi @Phil.Dye I just did a soft reset. I connected it to ethernet and used the steps in second post. As soon as it powered on it started flashing yellow and I let go of the reset button. The LED went to red and then magenta. After it was back online and everything is showing like before.

Wow! Still can’t believe your hub doesn’t work after a hard reset! :frowning: I hope you’re able to get it back online again and hopefully there’s some way you still have all your devices and programming.

I’m still waiting for support to respond, and hence without anything working. I’ve tried soft- and hard-resets as described, but the hub just returns to a solid-red LED :frowning:

Based on your troubleshooting and the lack of ethernet activity, that doesn’t seem good. Just to double check, you removed the batteries when power cycling right?

Yes, no batteries.

I suspect the hub is totally bricked; I know nothing lasts forever, but the timing coincidence with the firmware rollout is odd.

Just some really odd idea, have you changed any settings in your router recently? Are you definitely sure, that nothing is blocking the Hub to get an IP address and internet connection?
It really doesn’t explain the ethernet connector not lighting up, but you could experiment with the connector as well. I have seen equipment before, which wasn’t working, due to a bad connector. When the cable was plugged in fully/correctly hasn’t had any connection, but when pulled a bit out by releasing the latch, it started to work.

Nope, no network changes; it just dropped offline that evening. The link doesn’t come up physically, let alone at IP level.

I assume the hard reset should load a bootloader that makes it restore firmware from online? There’s no serial console output available to see that happening?

@Phil.Dye, have you managed to fix your Hub at the end?

I reluctantly bought another hub in the end.
