The smartthings app does not work with old 2018 Samsung appliances

Once they lose cloud features or server-side integrations… there is nothing you can do.
apps from 2018 or earlier would have been groovy based and have been shut down. logins changed too at one point.
On android 8 phone
The Android app is only available for Android devices running Android 9.0 or above.
You may be able to sideload a suitable earlier version from somewhere like apk mirror and bypass the play store completely. Older app versions would likely be limited and may not be functional at all though.
Also bear in mind they are no longer supported so will not receive any functional, maintenance or security updates and sideloading any apk is at users risk…
But my washer is 2020 model it should have the plug in controller for 2023 app?

Android 8 was released almost 10 years ago! Stop beating a dead horse. You can buy used Android phones with Android 14+ for less than 200 bucks nowadays.
