How do I get to Smarthings Labs. I know it says to hit the Plus icon on the dashboard, but I don’t have the option available? See attached image. Am I missing something here?
I think Labs is gone. You may find what you’re looking for by clicking Marketplace then SmartApps
I’m looking for the Sonos Notify Me app.
They removed Sonos a few weeks back because it wasn’t working properly, or that is what has been reported.
Here is an alternative
This Smart App and device type allows you to use any DLNA Media Renderer to receive Sonos-like sound and voice notifications from SmartThings.
You must to install the MediaRenderer_Connect to find any Generic Media Renderer (Network Speaker)
The MediaRender Player is the device type needed to control each Media Renderer.
If you dont have a Media Renderer like Smart TV or Network Speaker with DLNA you can test it with Foobar2000 program installing de upnp commponent. The commponent allows you to convert the player in a Media Renderer (Verify your firewall do not block the foobar2000 port )
I have tried some Media Renderers, but is better if you give me a feedback of the models that works for you.
Tip : Please, just install one time the MediaRenderer Connect from the phone, If you have…
This is great. I’m new to Smarthings, just installed today. How do I use this. I dont see where to download?
You’re going to want to go here
https://graph.api.smartthings.com/login/auth this is where you can install new device types that ST doesn’t official support as well as smart apps that are created by the community. You can also see the live logs from your ST hub here as well in case you have something that isn’t working the way that you think it should.
Got this going. Are you using it? I’m trying to use it to set up sounds when doors open… I find it very delayed and buggy, just curious if your having the same issues.
Not currently, I have used it and sonos notify. I’m currently using a different solution completely. I’d post in the above post with questions or concerns. Be sure you’ve looked through the thread to see if your question is already posted/answered.
Well… released on Google Play and on the website. SmartThings hasn’t approved the device handler or SmartApp yet.
Do you want an easy way to announce events - with speech or with chimes and alarms?
Do you want to have such announcements handy while you’re not home - e.g. a chime when the front door opens on your cell phone?
Does buying a Sonos system or dedicating a computer to VLC Thing seem like overkill to get sounds out of SmartThings?
Then perhaps LANnouncer (formerly LANdroid) is the solution. LANnouncer enables SmartThings to talk on Android devices running Lollipop or higher, via LAN (local network) or via SMS.
the LANnouncer web page for more information and to download the groovy driver (for now, until SmartThings approves the publish), plus LANnouncer on the Goog…
