Looking for feedback on another home monitoring system. @Dropcam @canary @blinkforhome Any suggestions?
Different people have different requirements for home monitoring systems, it all depends on the features that are important to you.
Search the forums for security or cameras and you’ll find a lot of discussion.
Here’s a recent topic that discussed some of the alternatives:
Hello all,
I moved into a new house and need to install an alarm system. I have been waiting patiently for the launch of Hub 2.0 for many months now (as I am sure most of you have as well…) and can no longer wait. Someone on this community mentioned the new hub will allow integration with security systems without an external PC.
Can someone point me in the right direction as to what would be the safest bet in installing a system that will eventually be compatible with v 2.0? I have spent weeks researching and my research has not indicated any hub that currently allows for easy integration with security systems without the need of additional external PCs or other devices.
My requirements are:
1 -Professional monitoring (one of the $8.99/month or so services would be fine, not sure what …
You should also check the camera FAQ:
I am shopping for a home security system and i’am hesitating between…" the Nest Cam or Canary or Smarthings Hub v2
If i choose Smarthings…which compatible cameras are the Best…?
Tks

Thanks. Hate to say something that will not require a subscription.

drop cam doesn’t require a subscription. I turn the recording on when I know I will be away. The rest of the time I just stream or capture stills. I’m happy with it, but I have the original version. I don’t like that light changes set off the motion sensor and I don’t like the noise it makes when it switches from night vision to regular. Since our TV is in frame, it happens a lot if the lights are off.
I am interested in arlo. Which does’t require a subscription for a few days recording.

I am going to reiterate (from Twitter) an endorsement for Scout Alarm.
