Help required as I develop an Edge driver for my Secure SRT323 Thermostat

Hi @lvikstro ,
Apologies if you already know this, but with battery devices like the SRT321, they spend most of their time asleep.
When you change the setpoint temperature in the app it stores the new value in a register and waits for the thermostat to wake up and check for a change.
In my case, the wake up interval is 15m (to get reasonable battery life), so you need to be patient to see if the App->Thermostat is working OK. Its a good idea to do your program setpoint changes just before a scheduled wake up.
Association group 5 (4 for my version) is what the Thermostat uses to communicate with the App. In my case manual changes on thermostat are instantly reflected on the app; you will need to change the association in the code.
Cheers, Aidan

Thank you, now with groups 2 to 6 added as assciation groups everything seems to be working well.

Hi Aidan,

I finally got around to following this up (thought I’d best get it sorted before it starts getting cold).

I’ve added your driver channel and tried to apply the SRT321 driver, but I’m getting a mismatched fingerprint error.

Checking back through the thread it looks like everything should match? The manufacturer code in Smartthings is 0059-0001-0003, and the model is 0001-0003. Should those match up, or is there something I might have missed?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Will

I have not looked at my SRT321 driver in a while.
I will check my channels, drivers, versions later and get you a fresh invitation.
Cheers,
Aidan

Brilliant, thanks very much for your help with this, much appreciated.

The channel contains two drivers:

Thanks very much Aidan. I’m still getting the same fingerprint error message, for both drivers unfortunately.

Do you know if there’s anything else I can check please?

Would one option be to exclude and reinclude the thermostat on the hub?

I am not sure.
Might be worth creating a new topic asking for advice on the fingerprint error.
Hopefully it will ring a bell with more experienced users. They might advise exclude/include.
I did notice that the version of the SRT321 driver in the channel was not my latest; I have updated it. You should get it automatically and then try switching to it. What edge driver is currently assigned to your SRT321?

Here is the latest channel info:

Hi Aidan, it looks like that last update has sorted it, all working this morning!

Thanks again for sharing all your work on this, massively grateful!

I have a couple of Secure SRT323’s in the building - is your new edge driver stable now - it sounds like it. I’d love to give it a try - and get the thermostats working here again. Are they available and how can I use them?

It reads like there some hard work went into creating them!

Hi @kwp ,
If your SRT323 are already connected to your Smartthings hub they are likely using the fallback β€˜Z-Wave Thing’ device handler.

My SRT323 custom device handler certainly works (even if it is not perfect).
I have been using it since last September and several others are now using it
(although the last person is having trouble changing his SRT323’s wakeup interval).

The normal process is to β€˜subscibe’ to my driver channel using the link below (via web browser),
then install the β€˜Secure SRT Thermostat’ driver via your Smartthings App (I think)
finally in the App, your SRT323 β†’ … β†’ Driver β†’ Select different driver

There are some model variations of the SRT323. Hopefully yours will be covered. If not, they can be added.

Good luck,
Aidan

The driver is working a treat - enrolled, installed the driver; then swapped each device to use the new driver and all looks great so far. Many thanks!

Glad it worked.
It’s a bit crazy that there is not an official manufacturer’s driver for these thermostats but it was interesting developing these drivers (I also have SRT321 thermostat and SIR321 switch with temperature probe for my hot water).

Hi Aidan,

Thanks for all your work here. I have a Secure SCS317 thermostat that I am trying to find a driver for. I suspect yours may well work without any changes. The manual is here: https://manual.zwave.eu/backend/make.php?lang=en&sku=SEC_SCS317&cert=ZC10-16015002

Would you be willing to add it to the list of supported thermostats for your driver please? If be happy to test it out.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,
I am on vacation for the next week but i will read the manual and add the required fingerprint on my return (assuming it makes sence)
Cheers, Aidan
