This is the solution. Each attempt I made was preceded by a power reset. 3 seconds off 3 seconds on for 5 times. I did that so many times I lost count. Several times the light did not blink but I didn’t think much about it. 3 days ago I removed the power to the receiver for 24 hours then did the reset. The light must have flashed about 6 times then all has been great since. My thinking is the duplicate fan speeds and light children were stored in the receiver. Why they weren’t cleared during the previous resets puzzles me. All that matters is the reset worked. It might take a few attempts for the reset to take.
