Hi,

I’m looking for dimmer switches that integrate easily with Smartthings. I’ve bought a few Wemo diimmers, but couldn’t get going under ST (yes, i’ve tried the Wemo custom app/handler).

So Zwave would be my best bet, but so many to choose from. They have to be avaiable in Canada too.

I thought about Inovelli (cheapest on Amazon), but from the reviews i’ve read, too many faulty units.

Nice looking dimmers (Wemo, Homeseer, etc…) are a big +

Thank you

As you’ve noticed, there are many different ones. There’s no one best because different people have different preferences and budgets.

You might start by looking at the device class feature FAQ so you can see what some of the different features are that different models might have. (The light switch discussion starts around post 40 in that thread. This is a clickable link.)

Originally bought 2 OSRAM tunable LED bulbs with the Wemo Hub and a WEMO insight switch, now I’ve “upgraded” the hub to the SmartThings hub, and looking at ditching the WEMO insight switch for the SmartThings plug, just so I have have support now and not have to wait or deal with adding custom code to the IDE. I’m on Amazon and etc pretty much every day trying to decide what I want to play around with next, or what’s better, etc. I’m here to see what your opinons/preferences are for plugs bulbs sensors: motion, open/close and temp It’s a confusing world out there…Just for bulbs I’m finding LIFX, WEMO, OSRAM, GE Link, Phillips Hue, Cree. For plugs I’m finding WEMO, SmartThings, Aeon Labs, GE…etc It’s hard to decide which is the way…

Most of the big brands, including Leviton, GE, evolve, GoControl, Inovelli, Zooz, and Homeseer are also available in Canada. Amazon.ca has a good selection, or you can try [https://www.aartech.ca/zwave-wall-dimmers](https://www.aartech.ca/zwave-wall-dimmers)

Personally, I use Lutron switches, which are neither Z wave nor WiFi (they have their own proprietary protocol). Very well engineered devices, but not cheap. There is an official integration with SmartThings, but you do have to buy the additional Lutron SmartBridge device to make it work.

So again, different things work for different people.

I like the look of the Homeseer WD200+ Zwave Plus Wall Dimmer. They are more expensive than average but you can customize the look of it and set scenes and warnings

I’ve been using Linear z-wave dimmers for years without any hiccups. Every switch in the house has one.
Watch Amazon and every so often you can get them for a reasonable price; if you call 40-45 USD reasonable!
