Getting ready to move into a “new” home and plan on replacing existing switches with some GE Z-wave switches. My question is what happens if the switch can’t talk to the ST Hub or the hub loses connection to the internet. Will the GE switches still turn the light on/off and you just lose your automation/remote control ability, or are you left in the dark?
Correct. You still have total manual control of the switch.
I’d also add that you can use cheap Z-Wave remotes to control your lights independently of ST (or any other hub for that matter). This is the main reason Z-Wave switches are better than smart bulbs like GE Link in my opinion.
