I waited a few days before responding to see if you got a response from @LeeFL or anyone else. The last post I saw from @LeeFl was that he was working on a Home Assistant integration for his bridge.
I bought and used the @LeeFL bridge for several years and it worked great until the Smartthings migration early this year. Since I only used Smartthings as a backend Z-wave and Zigbee connection box integrated to Home Assistant as the front end UI to my home, I set up a standalone Raspberry Pi running pynx584 with a usb to serial interface to the NX-8E. I then installed the "NX584 integration in Home Assistant. This work 100% of the time and is very fast but isnāt an integration to ST. It integrates directly to Home Assistant which is my preferred configuration.
@LeeFL
I have the Alarm System Bridge installed and I was recently adding some other devices to my SmartThings hub and was wondering if you were going to be creating a ST update for the new ST app. I saw in the Jan release of your instructions that it still shows the old classic app, which does not seem to work any longer.
Thanks
Reid
I just wanted to say that Iāve been running this absolutely perfectly since the first launch. This is hands down one of the best devices Iāve ever purchased for the money. I wish I could fund @LeeFL to do this full time!
The only reason I came back here was to check on new firmware (years later) and grab the documentation since Iām changing my WiFi setup. I have this generally working the way I expect so Iām scared to do anything more than swing the WiFi, but I may get adventurous and try the new firmware.
Thank you for all youāve done to protect my family @LeeFL !
Is there a simplistic way to change the WiFi network without resetting the entire configuration?
@aniraf I havenāt seen a post from @LeeFL since 5/21. In early 2021 ST migrated to their new interface and the integration with this device/kit stopped working. I have the device/kit and if you want to PM me I can tell you what the manual says about setting the wifi network. I cannot however help with the integration to ST as it no longer works as far as I know. See: GE, Networx, Interlogix Caddx NX8 security System Integration? - #308 by txwindsurfer
Oddly my kit never stopped working with the ST update. Granted all of my attempts to reset the WiFi seem to have taken a toll. My device no longer shows any of the zones from the alarm system.
Realizing this is dead in the water I did some searching and came up with this https://konnected.io/. After reading I decided Iāll just blow away the whole system and use these boards which seem to accomplish what I want. There seems to be a fairly active community and they support all of the home automation suites.
I also do have LeeFL kit and was never working for couple a of years now.
I switched to Home Assistant a few weeks ago. Itās kinda overwhelming at the beginning but now, I actually like it more than SmartThings. It has all the things that I wanted to do including energy usage and solar production, and water consumption, cheap working motion sensors including mmWave which is pretty awesome. Then I was ready to replace my alarm panel and trash my old GE NX8E and replaced it with something like Konnect.
I did a couple of research and I found some people are actually using NX584 or NX8E in-home assistant, so did some digging. I found out that I can still reuse the system by just buying as Serial to TCP/IP. I bought one which only cost $26 on Amazon and was able to successfully integrate it into Home Assistant. I can even use all the sensors to do other automation like re-using the security motion sensor to turn on lights.
Created a GitHub for the custom add-on in HA if you guys are interested.
@mpikounis@LeeFL Hey guys I see others have asked with no reply, I am in the same boat. Before LeeFL went MIA, I believe he sent the wifi AP change instructions to Michael. Michael can you PLLLLLEASE SHARE? Does anyone know how to change the Wifi AP once its already been installed?
Easiest way is to temporarily disable the WiFi router that itās currently connected to, then reset the device, either using
IPaddress/reset
or by pressing the little reset button, or by removing power.
If you then wait for 2 minutes it will then re-create itās own WiFi hotspot, and you can connect to it with a phone and pick a new WiFi AP for it to connect to.
Hi All, Hope someone is still following this thread.
I noticed that LeeFL has not responded back since May 2021. Hope all is ok with him. That being the case, I purchased one of his bridge systems and had it working for several years. Unfortunately, due to some of my own family circumstances I had to put the automation stuff on hold. Was hoping to get it going but based on the dialogue sounds like SmartThings changed the app which caused a number of challenges for many. My bridge system has firmware dating back to June 2019 and none of the links with the newer firmware options from LeeFL work anymore. Was wondering if anyone had the latest firmware available and documentation that they could post? Was going to give it one last try to see if I can get it working, otherwise might need to scrap the whole project. Thanks!
