And to be absolutely clear…
not a stand-alone switch
Means this is a dumb device which does not have a radio inside. It needs to be connected by physical traveler wire to a compatible smart master switch. Its only purpose is to serve as the auxiliary in a three-way set up.
We have had community members in the past interpret “not a standalone switch“ to mean “needs a hub“ but there’s more to it than that.
