Fire Tablet Setup Script for ActionTiles [BETA UPDATE 12-4-18]

I am curious how to power these things. I’m not a electrician but is it possible to use wires from a thermostat or light switch?

It looks like a lot of people run these above a switch.

That’s correct — he also sells them here on eBay and it comes with a flush
mount usb power cable!

As far as power, I replaced an old Honeywell/ademco keypad that gets
12volts already — I simply crimped an in-line 12V to 5V DC converter inline
with a female usb end. You can get one on Amazon (see below):

Hope this helps!

Not really because I am.not replacing but looking to tap into a source near my mount

Plenty of threads on how to wall mount tablet, including power.

I can’t get my win 10 machine to put on the adb first.

Can I pay someone $ (over paypal) to remote in and fix this… so i can run Aaron’s script?

I have been dealing with this for 4-5 hours, and time is money… thx in advance.

Hi there :money_mouth_face:
I sent you a PM.

Your firmware version may be too high to uninstall the packages. You can try to run this:
adb\adb.exe shell pm disable ""

You will need to open command prompt and navigate to the folder that the script is in for that to work.
cd "C:\users\yourname\desktop\fire_script"

Hi! Thank you for this Utility. It worked great for my two Fire 5th generation tablets. My device is running (didn’t want to mess with trying to step it down and inadvertently Bricking it). It removed the ads but kept all the Amazon apps, which I can live with.
Also, thank you for the driver information, my second tablet could not connect to my Windows laptop, so removing the driver was useful.

If there is an update for removing Fire Apps for, would love to hear about it.

@dhsemp Which wall mount is that you are using the flushmount cable? Also, how did you connect it to power? I am looking to put it where an old security keypad is so I believe I can use the power from that.

(Jane) #113

Also, how do I set it up so that Action Tiles comes up as soon as the screen saver is turned off?

(dhsemp) #114

See the above post for the ebay(wall mount with flush mount usb power cable) and amazon (12v to 5v dc converter) urls. I used the Fully browser from the install script in this thread to launch ActionTiles…

(Jane) #115

He doesn’t ship to Canada. Any way to just get the flush mount usb cable?

+1 Would like just the flush mount cable separately. I saw them on alibaba but minimum order was 20.

(Jane) #117

What was the link to them on alibaba?

I’m sure if consumers are willing to pay a high enough price to justify the effort and risk, someone will take on the opportunity to import these a list them on Amazon or some other marketplace.

I’ve never attempted direct import myself, but I’ve purchased from some retailers who have; and they certainly have their hands full with delays and quality issues before and after shipping to consumers.

Yeah but these are used by a number of people here as part of the Fire Tablet mount kit. I just don’t want the 3D printed frame. I think that the cleanest and least expensive wall mount would be a flush mount USB cable and a magnet on the wall. It also makes it very easy to remove for use.

I have also considered a magnetic Qi charger and receiver. Like these:

(Cody Farmer) #121 I started looking at these wall mount and I think I like them. has anyone tried these for there fire tablet. I think this is the setup it like to go with. looking for feedback
