Feature Request – Save Dry Level Preference for “Normal” Cycle (WH46DBH100EWAC)

I’m using the Samsung WH46DBH100EWAC washer/dryer combo and noticed a frustrating limitation: the “Normal” dry cycle always defaults to a mid-level dryness setting, and there’s no way to save a preferred dry level—even though the appliance supports Wi-Fi and SmartThings integration.

This undermines the value of smart appliance control. Users should be able to define persistent preferences for commonly used cycles. The hardware clearly supports variable dry levels, and the app infrastructure could easily accommodate saved presets.

Suggested enhancement:
• Add a “Save Preferences” option in SmartThings for each cycle.
• Allow firmware-level overrides for default cycle parameters.

Samsung Canada acknowledged the issue and said they’d forward it to the SmartThings team, but I’m posting here to raise visibility and see if others have encountered the same limitation.

Would love to hear if anyone’s found a work around or if this is on the roadmap.

This forum was set up a number of years ago so that customers could help other customers with the smartthings home automation platform. It’s not monitored by Samsung employees except for one small section for developers.

A few years ago, Samsung combined a bunch of its existing apps into one app and called that one smartthings, so people do sometimes get sent here if they have app questions.

But in general, if you want to raise visibility and be seen by actual smart Samsung employees, it’s better to post in the official Samsung help forum, or on any of their public facing channels, like Facebook or X.

The official Samsung forum is monitored by employees and is also the place where most discussions of appliances take place.

I recommend reporting this to SmartThings Customer Support**, as they have the ability to escalate this issue to the appropriate engineering team if needed.

To contact them, follow these steps:

  1. Open the SmartThings app
  2. Go to the menu tab (bottom-right corner)
  3. Tap Contact us
  4. Select Error reports
  5. Choose the topic related to your issue and follow the prompts to submit your request

Thank you. Yes, I also contacted Samsung directly and have received an escalated reply. Was just trying to provide a publicly facing awareness factor as I think this would be a rather universally desirable feature.
