Eve Aqua Integration

Am I missing something?

I am using several of Eve’s sensors (Motion, Energy, Door & Window) without any issues integrated into SmartThings and more recently purchased an Eve Aqua (Tap controller). This has connected to the Eve and Home apps via Matter and works perfectly, but cannot seem to get it working in SmartThings. Pairing using the QR code results in an error “this code can not be used to connect”.

I notice that all my other devices has the Matter logo on the box, but the Aqua only has the Thread logo. Is this the problem? Do I need to be doing something different to integrate this?

Thread is a mesh networking technology based on the IEEE 802.15.4 radio standard. While it does use IP Networking for communicating between nodes, supporting Thread does not imply Matter support. Matter is a communications protocol that runs on top of IP to provide a standard language for smart home devices to communicate with multiple smart home ecosystems (ST, Google, Apple Home, etc). Matter is currently supported over Wi-Fi, Thread, and Ethernet/Wi-Fi bridge (and well technically Matter is supported on any IPv6 capable network transport).

So, the Thread logo tells you it supports Thread networking which would allow it to work with, for example, Apple Home hubs that do or don’t support Matter. For it to work with ST, it would need to also have a Matter logo (or the ability to have its firmware updated) to support Matter.

Will my existing, non-Matter Eve product receive a Matter upgrade, and if so, when ?
The entire lineup of Thread-enabled Eve devices will receive free Matter firmware updates over time. We don’t have a timeline and order to share at this time.
