Has anyone ever integrated a home elevator into ST?
Not reliable enough yet.
In addition to glitches, which are frequent, SmartThings pushes out unscheduled changes that can take your system off-line for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. So not really suitable to this kind of use case.
(I myself am quadriparetic, use a wheelchair with limited hand function. I wouldn’t put even a bath lift or bed hoist on SmartThings, let alone an elevator.)
Just last week they gave us about four days notice that there would be an outage Thursday morning for scheduled maintenance, but with no option to postpone it. It was nice to have that notice. But then they did a second outage The next day that didn’t have pre-notification except for a forum post the afternoon before.
During that time I had both lights that failed to turn on when they should have and lights that turned on on their own. As did other people – – see the forums for various reports.
So while it’s not impossible to imagine setting something up, personally I wouldn’t recommend it.
This interests me? Few observations
1.) it says ZIGBEE HA / ZIGBEE in description, so theoretically should be integratable
2.) it looks UK SWITCH Sized
3.) only appears to have two cables (no neutral)
More info on that . . .
Thanks for the replies. We are in the process of building a house and I’m working on setup of ST. Would be nice to have a “arrive home” scenario to open garage door, turn on lights, unlock door and have elevator arrive at 1st floor. By default the elevator moves to second floor after a set amount of time.
