I just installed the ZSE50 with ST and the Edge 12/29 Edge Driver. I set up a routine with mode selected to play one of the default mp3 sounds. For some reason the E50 is not playing the mp3 correctly. It either doesnāt play at all or it it clipped off quickly. I tried using a few different mp3ās with same result. I had previously had good success with this device playing the sounds on a Hubitat hub. I factory reset it prior to adding to ST. Before taking any. additional actions I wanted to check here. TIA.
Check all your settings. There are setting that determine how long tones play, if it loops, etcā¦
Thanks Jeff. I went into the settings and changed a few things but the results I saw were strange. If I tested if from the device screen it works fine and if I press the test button from the routine edit screen it works fine. But when I actually open the door (contact sensor) it behaves differently. The red strobe lit for a short duration but the mp3 didnāt play. Then a little later it worked correctly. Not sure what changed. It seems to be working correctly now. When I was using with Hubitat I created my own MP3 messages from a text to speech app and loaded them into the device to play with different routines. I want to do the same with ST. Is there any documentation of the settings? Thanks again for your quick response.

Here is the full settings doc: ZSE50 Siren & Chime Advanced Settings - Zooz Support Center
For using your own tones, just add whatever MP3 files you want to the device and then use the āRebuild Tonesā option in the modes menu to rebuild the list from what is on the device. Just be aware tone numbers can change if you remove any mp3 files, so any routines already made you may have to go fix the tone selections.
Here is two other docs from Zooz that might help:
This is great! Thanks.
Jeff, Iām hoping you can help with another issue Iām having with a Zooz Zen74 toggle switch. When I pair it with ST, Instead of using the Edge driver it installs with a generic z-wave switch driver. I canāt figure out how to force it to use the Edge driver for this switch I have installed on SmartThings. When I go to the device driver section and select change driver it doesnāt show any other compatible drivers. Not sure why as the Edge driver is installed. Before I uninstall and reinstall to see if that helps I thought Iād reach out.
Thanks, Howard.
In the mobile app go to the device view, ⦠menu > Information
What is the full Manufacturer Code? Should be in the format XXXX-YYYY-ZZZZ
This is what is used to match the fingerprint on the custom drivers, to determine if it is compatible.
The manufacturer code is showing up as all zeroes. Must be something wrong with the way it paired? I canāt recall the exact steps I used. I. think I started with scanning the switch QR code.
Yeah that indicates the pairing did not complete correctly. You should try excluding and pairing again. The QR code should be on the front of the metal plate if you take the face plate off the wall. If it keeps happening you might need to move the hub closer temporarily so the pairing can complete, then move it back to its original location.
Thanks. Iāll give it a try. The reason I want to get the correct driver is the automations Iām creating that use this switch are working correctly only intermittently.
The driver probably wont help that, it could be related to the bad pairing though. It could also be the device is not within a good range so is having a hard time talking to the hub (which would also explain the bad pairing).
Unpaired the switch, moved the hub closer and repaired. That did the trick. Thanks again for you help. I normally connect the hub via ethernet but I switched over to WiFi so I could move it around. I think Iāll stick with WiFi as long as it works ok.

This is a new package along with one for the ZEN17, so follow the link to the channel in the top post to add them to your hub.
Jeff, Iāve run into an issue with my Zen55 DC Smoke Alarm relay. I removed/unpaired it from Hubitat Hub (where it was working correctly) and then paired with SmartThings. The process went fine and the device shows up in SmartThings with what I believe is the correct Edge device driver. Version 2025-04-ā¦. (lots of numbers after the 04). The problem is it is not being recognized by STHM. I tried rebooting the hub removing and re-adding multiple times with the same result. The one thing I noticed is the green led on the relay is off even though I enabled it in settings. I played around enabling all the settings with no results. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Howard
I think for the LED to be on, the built in relay would need to be switched on. I suspect very few people use the built in relay, it would be like it you wanted a wired siren to go off with it or something.
Do you have sections for the Smoke and CO detections on the device details? Are they populated with values? You can do a pull down to refresh if needed, which should update them.
I have not used STHM myself, but I assume it would look for those to determine if the device is supported. I have also never hooked this device up to ST yet, or really looked at the driver code for it, it was created before I took over.
If I go to the smoke sensors section in STHM it shows no sensors. It gives me the option to add but that just brings you to the standard āadd deviceā dialogue. STHM does recognize my Aeotec leak sensor but not the Zen55. Under the devices page everything looks correct. It shows smoke and CO status, etc. There are some settings for association groups that show as none and a device network id of 25. Firmware 1.3. Under information it show the driver version as 2.3.61-8. I suspect STHM is looking for something that shows the device as a smoke detector and not finding it.
Howard
This afternoon Iām going to exclude the relay and then do a factory reset prior to inclusion and see if that makes any difference.
Howard
For what itās worth, I have the Zen55 attached to our hardwired interconnected smoke detectors and it does show in the home monitor applet. I did have to originally go through the setup process in the home monitor to add it as a smoke detector but that was just a matter of stepping through the links to that point and selecting the device to use. It is currently using the āZooz Switchā driver.
Thanks Garin. I did some more experimenting with settings and seem to have STHM now recognizing the sensor. Iām going to test the smoke alarms later today to make sure the sensor is triggered correctly.
