Door Magnet Batteries Die

i had a simple z-wave garage door magnet on my garage door, it notified me when the door open/closed and turned the lights on when the door was opened. we changed the garage door a few weeks ago and immediately after we changed the door the sensor stopped working, i changed the batteries and it started working again perfectly, after 2-3 days stopped working again and the batteries were dead. changed batteries 1 more time and same result. i then purchased a new different brand sensor, configured it and it worked perfectly for 2-3 days then stopped , i contacted the mfgr they sent a replacement unit, same result worked for 2-3 days then dead battery. bought a new battery yesterday (smartthings shows 100% battery) and again today battery now at 40%
can someone help?
the door is just a steel type fire door
previous door was wood

It sounds very much like the new steel door is interfering with the radio signal causing the sensor to chew through batteries.

Can you confirm the sensor and the hub are on opposite sides of the door?

Can you look in the IDE and see what the route is to the hub?

hub & sensor are on same side of the door hub is in the attic in the garage, sensor is on the inside of the garage door
is this the information you are asking for?
not sure if this is what you want

There should be a line above those you are showing that says “Route”
