If I have a Aeon Labs Z-Wave Appliance switch with energy monitoring. And I want to replace it with a different brand of the Z-Wave switch without energy monitoring, can I just give the device network ID number from the old switch to the new Switch? And if so will that keep all my smart apps related to the old switch functional now on the new Switch? I’m not using any smart apps related to energy.
No, afraid that’s not how DNI work. They will get unique assignments on pairing. You can use the “Replace Zwave” in the settings of the device if you need to swap. However, that doesn’t always work properly.
Support should be able to help you with the replace feature for zwave only devices.
@pstuart thanks for your help. Was just looking for a shortcut. I’ll just do it the old-fashioned way.
