[DEPRECATED Thread: visit community.webcore.co for assistance] webCoRE - Piston Design Help (ask your fellow members for assistance)

Twilio interaction is planned but not currently being worked on.

We are all beta testing webCoRE at this point

I think I set a week threshold so it may go away in a week - regardless, you have a ghost in your SHM

The following piston was posted a few weeks ago, in an attempt to control thermostat with one or more motion sensors. When saved, webcore continues to say that “the piston is not subscribed to any events”. Can a piston subscribe to a boolean variable?? What am I missing?

dont believe devices in define section are subscribed to. the following should work. dont use a connected thermostat hence the log statement.

EDIT: actually the if should work. it will be interesting to see if the else if works for a boolean variable stays false.

New to webcore, I would like to find a way to make my switches behave the following way.

If a switch is flipped on, in 5 minutes it turns off automatically.
If a switch is flipped on, then off, then on within 10 secs it will stay on indefinitely.

How can I program this in webcore?..any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the great smarthings community…

I took a look and searched the wiki, but the LIFX support does not seem to be documented.

I’m struggling to comprehend how to set this up.

Hi all, 2 quick questions which I haven’t been able to figure out:

  1. How can I both check and assign a null value (to check for unset variables)?
  2. How do I schedule a piston (for example to set cleaner mode on Friday at 12pm to 3pm every 2 weeks starting 21st July)?

This is what I have got so far

ST does not provide health status events, you will need to put that check inside a timer, say every 5 minutes or so…

That really depends on whether your lock provides such events as invalid code - I don’t see how that would work, I do see the benefit though

I put together a method of using CoRE + Tasker for interactive notifications on Android, perhaps that will give you some ideas.

Issue with Sunday? (@ady624)

I run my lights with a combination of schedules , motion and luminance. Regarding the night schedules, there are two general schedules that are based on my work days - which are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Therefore, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, I go to bed earlier than I do on Sunday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Several lights and groups of lights are driven by pistons similar to the one below - and they all turn off the ligh(s) on Sunday nights at the early time rather than the later time as they are supposed to. It’s important to note that these pistons all work on the other nights as expected and they all used to work properly even on Sundays.

Here’s the example piston. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Quoting myself…

@ady624
Is there an issue with using “but only” on Sundays - or is it my piston? The piston works for all other days and times and until earlier this month, it worked on Sundays too. Did something change?

Can someone throw me a bone on this one? This should be three separate events. If a motion sensor becomes active, it runs the timers for all three for some reason.

Also, memory usage is 47% for this piston. I’m memory usage a huge concern?

Change to sync and see what happens.
Memory usage is not an issue. Each piston uses 100k I believe including logs.
When it hits 100k the oldest logs drop out.

Sorry, should have stated that. I had it in sync, same issue. I tried async to see if I could get them to act individually, but the timers dont.

Have a look at the TEP (task execution policy) for each if.

Ok, I may be clueless and /or lacking coffee. Where is the TEP?

I’ve been watching the trace while testing.

When you edit the piston, with the conditions and actions click on the settings cog.
Here you will find TEP and TCP.
You can use these to stop tasks running.
Have a look and a play.
Edit. I think I would change the way you go about this.
Forget your true and false and put everything into one task block.
Import it and add 2 more ifs. Use sync.
Your basically tryinv to do this with 3 different scenarios.

Hi, I really just updated webcore and now the output in variabe lstime and lntime don’t display the date and time in human readable format. Something has changed. Anyway, what do I need to change to get lntime and lstime to display as Wed, July XX at 13:00… instead of just a string of numbers?

Make the variables of type datetime instead of dynamic

in additional it also depends upon if the device handler is capturing and reporting it to ST. See:
