This feels ignorant but… Why is the default setting for the period of time “day” sunset-sunset and “night” sunrise-sunrise… I asked a friend and he said his was setup correctly. Can I adjust this?

The reason is that Samsung app developers don’t properly test and patch their apps during the iOS beta periods. They instead wait until the OS is out in public and tickets come flooding in (Make sure you send in a support ticket).
