Custom Edge Ikea TRÅDFRI LED driver

I am looking for a custom Edge driver for the TRÅDFRI 30w LED driver that would give you the option to change the on/off status after power failure. I have some and want to use them in my bedroom but they default to on after a power failure and the standard ST Edge driver does not give you the option to change it.

Hi @DOWNSOUTH407

Is this model?

  • id: “IKEA/TRADFRI Driver 30W”
    deviceLabel: IKEA Light
    manufacturer: IKEA of Sweden
    model: TRADFRI Driver 30W
    deviceProfileName: on-off-level

If you want, I add it to the Zigbee light Multifunction Mc driver and try to see if the option to restore status after power loss that it has in preferences works

Ikea bulbs have this ability. I’d be amazed if driver doesn’t have that.

Yes, I think that is the one. You know with these new Edge drivers it doesn’t give you any of the information anymore in the IDE.

Added to this driver version

I thought I posted on this Community a few times over the last couple of years about the flaky behaviour of this driver with ST (or maybe with Hue). When I added it and a bunch of Trådfri bulbs, there weren’t custom DHs for it, so the common solution was to add it via a Hue hub. Alas, while all the bulbs throughout the house have been pretty much rock-solid, the 30W LED driver has been problematic: it seems to default to an “on” state after any power or network interruptions, usually turning on in the middle of the night and waking us up. Not cool.

Anyway, fast forward to late 2022, there are Edge drivers for all the above, but I really only want to address the 30W LED Driver. My questions then:

Do I delete the device from ST and then Hue, and then pair directly to my ST hub (I’ve already loaded the Mc Edge driver on the ST hub)?

If yes, should I take advantage of the deletion to first pair it with the Trådfri Gateway and try to grab the latest firmwares for it and the dimmer switch? I realize pairing to Trådfri means adding the on/off dimmer “steering device” first, then pairing the light source with the on/off dimmer.

What do you think?

Well, it’s obviously slow here for the holidays, so I went ahead and included the two devices on the Trådfri Gateway. They took about two hours to load new firmware, then I removed the devices from the Gateway. And just like with the Shortcut Buttons and the Fyrtur Up/Down Remote, ST seems to pair with the Trådfri LED Driver and the Dimmer switch, but then can’t connect. And of course, I’ve tried every combination of deleting and resetting and pairing and force closing. So I will put it away for a day and then try again tomorrow. All of this should just be easier.
