Has anyone tried to integrate any kind of laser that can then calculate number of people in and out of a room?

There’s been a discussion of this in the microlocation topic, but I don’t know anyone in this particular community who’s done it:

> Experts, quick question. What equipment and rules do you need to setup in order to: detect a person enter the room detect a person leave the room count total # of person in the room basically I want to setup a rule so that whenever someone enter the room, turn the lights on, and turn lights off when exiting the room. Thanks!

Something like this?

You can try it. Mesh gets very tricky because there is no forced sequencing. It’s entirely possible that the second motion sensor will report before the first. And of course the cloud trips involved with SmartThings make it that much trickier. Doesn’t hurt to try, though. 🕶

Funny I haven’t heard much about their home automation solution. Only their sensors.
