i am not sure if i understood the infos regarding the aqara hub m3 and SmartThings integration correctly.
i bought a aqara m3 hub and wanted to use it also as a SmartThings hub.
The SmartThings app recognizes the Aqara hub and asks me if i want to add it.
But it’s somehow not working as i always get the message that i can’t add it as there is no hub in my Home?
Do i need to have also a SmartThings hub from Samsung ?
That’s not how it works. The M3 hub is a hub for Aqara platform that can be used as Matter bridge to communicate with the SmartThings hub using Matter and expose its devices locally.
If you want a hub for SmartThings you have to buy a SmartThings hub like the Aeotec, the Station or other devices with built-in SmartThings hubs. You may not need the Aqara hub at all, many Aqara devices can connect directly to SmartThings hubs depending on the technology they use.
thanks a lot . now i got it.
i was thinking to use the aqara hub as a bridge between Smartthings and Apple Home as i read somewhere that this is possible.
I was looking for a solutions to control my samsung devices within the home app
If Samsung devices were Matter you would just add them to Apple Home, but they are not and they don’t have Apple Home integrations.
Some platforms like Home Assistant can integrate SmartThings devices and expose them to Apple Home via the so called HomeKit Bridge. I guess that’s the solution I would use and for that you would require a HA hub like the Home Assistant Green, or a computer running the software.
It’s kind of ironic how SmartThings is probably the best platform for Matter devices at the moment yet Samsung has zero Matter devices and most of their devices can only be controlled through the SmartThings cloud.
so in that case i don’t need the aqara hub at all an will send it back
But even if i have eg the HA Green i would
still need the Smartthings hub like Aotec, or?
thanks
