If they require their own hub to work, they likely are not going to work with SmartThings. There are many devices of that type.
With zigbee, that protocol allows for manufacturer proprietary profiles which are not compatible with anything else. See the community FAQ (the topic title is a clickable link)
Anyway, the point is that in these kinds of situations the software being used is more important than the hardware, so we need to know the exact brand and model of your switch.
