After a recent update, not sure when. My routines for controlling Nest thermostats stopped working. Temperature control is missing from the then options. Only mode is available
I ran into this exact same issue after the last app update and it’s super frustrating. I found that if you delete the thermostat from the routine entirely and try to re-add it as a “Custom Action” instead of using the standard device picker, you can usually type in “set thermostat to 72 degrees” to bypass the missing UI slider. It’s a clunky workaround, but it’s the only way I’ve been able to get my morning schedule back on track while waiting for a proper bug fix.
Hi, @Jeff_Gallagher
Can you provide the following, please?
- Access to your account
- Device name
- A screenshot of the menu you see, and if you’re checking it in the “conditions” or “actions”
- Mention which options you used to see before, if you remember.
I had to delete the connection to Nest and re-connect it. This resolved the issue so I can’t send screenshots. The only option that was left was the option to change the thermostat mode. Seems to have started when the latest app was updated. Removing and reinstalling the App didn’t work either
@nayelyz I’m having the exact same problem and unlinking and relinking Nest did not work.
I am choosing actions and not conditions.
I used to have the ability to set both heating and cooling temperature. There is no longer any option.
Hi, @Kohn_Phu
I checked the presentation of this device and noticed the following:
- The capability of
thermostatCoolingSetpointhas a “visibleCondition” set to appear only if the current value of “thermostatMode” is “auto” or “cool”. - The capability of
thermostatHeatingSetpointhas a “visibleCondition” set to appear only if the current value of “thermostatMode” is “auto” or “heat”.
So, please check which mode is set on the device when you try to create a Routine.
Yep looks like you’re right. When I set the device to auto first then all the options come back. Seems a little silly though to have to do that before creating a routine. Would be more logical if it shows up after you set the mode to auto within the actions itself.
Or show all 4 settings and let only stop the user from saving if it doesn’t make sense.
Anyways, thanks for the help!

Yeah, I don’t know why they chose this configuration but that is done on purpose by the person who creates the device presentation.
I’ll ask around to see who should change it (if possible) since this seems a special integration.
