Yes you can use the built in “door sense” feature as a door open close sensor but you will need the Enhanced Z-Wave lock device handler to enable and use that feature in SmartThings.

It discovers/learns the lock features and automatically configures them. If a feature is not supported by the lock it will not show up or say Unsupported.
