Can Hue hub cause response problems with ST?

Well, the HAM bridge integration failed me also. It wasn’t the fault of HAM Bridge however. What I found is the Virtual switches never changed state from on to off when hello-home changed from night to awake. I’ve informed support of this since it really isn’t an issue with Hue at this point. There are items in my setup that just aren’t triggering like they’re supposed to. Hopefully they’ll support me.

@April @slagle Guys, what do you suggest we do now? Now it’s difficult to get even two bulbs to turn on at a time via hello homes, lights & switches gets stuck at turning on/off. It’s become embarrassing for us to report this every single day and keep whining. There is no improvement at all and things getting worse every single day with this hue integration. Can we get a straight answer if this is going to get fixed in the near future. We are sick and tired whining about this. If it’s not happening, at least do let us know and we can move the hues out of ST rather than posting these woes every single day. Can we at least get a response?

It is being worked on. No doubt about it. I personally don’t know a time frame but if I can find one out I will let everyone know.

Tim, I am sure you will understand for 7-8 months the same cycle, ranting and whining goes on from both the sides. And I am sure both sides are fed up. Some of us were drawn to ST coz of its touted hue integration which did work well at some point when we all started but gets worse by the day/ For me if the hue integration does not work, I have basically no use of ST. Thanks, buddy!

I had a power outtage and my hue’s came on after power was restored.

Ironically, ST lost connection with them and their status. However, going into the HUE SmartApp and clicking done, it refreshed the bulbs and all is working now.

It seems to be related to the scheduler function just dying on anything, including the hue smartapp. Hopefully the solution is to solve the scheduler issues and that will make HUE start working better.

I think I can make a workaround to jumpstart the HUE and other apps, but it will require an external OAUTH endpoint for each smartapp that needs a schedule to run.

Hopefully the scheduler failures will be fixed soon.

Guess 7-8 months is not enough to fix this issue. Everytime the answer is it is being worked on. Oh yeah! If at actually it is being worked upon, what does it actually say about the developers involved? Really wonder how come they are not embarrassed. In my line, we would be working (if at all) in utter shame if at all we still had the job. Harsh words… Yes… Does it matter… I think not.

Obvlously I cannot speak to what happened before I started at STs. But I can tell you I have first hand knowledge of it being a priority on a devs list. The dev working on it is top notch I can guarantee you that!

@slagle Its caring and passionate people like you that keeps me in this platform. I have uttermost respect for you. I hope that they match even 5% of your capability. As of now I have to get into the tedious exercise of removing all the hues from the platform along with all the related apps and move it to hue stock app to turn it on/off on schedule as I don’t want my lights on forever when I am out of the country for three weeks later this month. We believe in you and hope you will somehow manage to get it done.

Checked the logs and looks like polling is back for the hues. I am not going to touch any hue related settings or use a third party app and see what happens and whether it dies.

Wow! ST was able to turn off one hue when good night was triggered couple of minutes back. What an achievement. The rest I clicked one at a time to turn them off. Nice!

I agree with you and experiencing the same issues. Also something did change recently as I’ve noticed similar symptoms (delays with Hue light turning on) pop up recently in the last two weeks.

Hue lights not turning on and off reliably is a HUGE problem. My #1 requirement in a smart home is light control. Right now my hue lights are unreliable and my TCP lights require me to re-authenticate everyday or they stop working. Not good. Smartthings must make it a priority to ensure these integrations work, and when they stop working it should be a matter of hours or days (not months) to fix them.

If things don’t improve with the new v2.0 platform release by the end of the year I will be switching to something else.

I removed light turn on/offs from ST and moved it Philips hue native app to trigger at particular time.i lost the benefit of hello homes and other light related automation but what can I can do when ST doesn’t show any inclination to fix it. @slagle you did a premature high fiving, buddy! Without the lights now and motions gone funky, ST hub is pretty much now becoming a paper weight for me! I have whined, begged, pleaded but all to deaf ears! So I am back to square one.

If anyone else is having problems could they please see this post:

I am curious if everyone else is having this problem.

I was having fragmenting on my Linksys 1900AC router even though it was set to Auto. I changed my MTU to 1480 and last night my bulbs worked reliably for the first time in months! It’s only been a few hours, so only time will tell.

I’ve had this change in place for 8 days and my bulbs are at least turning on and off when they are expected to. I am still running in to issues where the colors and brightness aren’t always changing, so at least it appears to be getting better. Luckily my bulbs are all triggered on motion, so the scenes usually get changed after the second motion sensor is triggered. Not perfect, but I’ll happily take this over not working at all. Sad but true.
