Eve’s Matter over Thread smart plug is on sale for $33.20. This is a Thread router (repeater), so it can help strengthen and extend your thread network, but is not a thread border router so you’ll still need one of those as @Andreas_Roedl noted below.

Really? My Eve Energy EU is only a Thread router. For it to function as a Thread border router, it would need a secondary network interface, such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Good catch: I screwed up. Apologies for any confusion, I have fixed my post above. It is listed as a TBR on one of the databases I use, but that’s apparently an error. My bad.
