As I am a hopeful entrant for the Makers Against Drought ARTIK Challenge, the delay has me biting nails. Though less than 250 registered for 150 Kits allocated to the Challenge.

Why not?
I’m not sure what the “pre-judging” criteria is, so I feel my chances are as good as anyone else. They could be weighting “originality” higher or lower than “feasibility”. It would be nice to know… I have a lot of speculation on Hackathons like this, but haven’t analyzed what tends to make successful entrants.
I presume that making extensive (deep) and creativity (unique) use of the sponsor’s technology is of prime importance. There are thousands of obvious and not-so-obvious water saving ideas for which using ARTIK is very suboptimal. That, to me, would eliminate a lot of entrants who don’t phrase their application summary appropriately.
