I then added my Matter hub from the g410 doorbell.
When I added the matter hub 410, all of the child devices came over including the hub itself. However, the video doorbell camera did not come over. Strange!
Is there a driver that I need to download? Or, is there an update that my hub needs to receive since I just reset it last night?
So, my Aqara H2 switch is not showing up. It’s a matter device. Shouldn’t it be showing up? Did I have to add it via its own matter code?
I tried that but I get this a blank switch. I’m supposed to assign what it does but it’s a switch. It controls a fan and a light but there is no device in the menu that lets power go through it.
Don’t know. I wouldn’t use a doorbell camera as a Matter bridge anyway. Why use a translator - another point of failure - when you can connect the device(s) directly to SmartThings?
If you want to have all of the features of the Aqara H2 Wall Switch, use this driver:
That’s what Aqara said about the G4 and they have since released the G400 which is still not matter compatible and is in fact a downgrade because the face recognition is no longer local and you have to subscribe to cloud to have it. Disappointingly Tapo have just released the D260 ‘Pro’ and it is also not matter compatible and the face recognition is only in their walled garden and not supported on other platforms.
Do I need to start a campaign of boycotting all expensive new products which are not matter compatible and support it properly on all platforms?
To be fair the reason for the delay for older doorbells and cameras to get matter compatibility is explained here by the Aqara Product Manager, it’s basically Apple’s fault!
