I purchased a Aqara G5 pro camera and tried to integrate this camera into ST Home Monitor but does not show up as a motion sensor. ST does see this as a Camera and I can create automation around the camera but no luck w/ Home Monitor. Is the camera motion sensor not exposed to Smartthings Home monitor and is this a limitation of this camera?
My Tapo cameras and doorbell show up as Motion Sensors in STHM. But I don’t use them in STHM because they are prone to false positives.
I may need to switch to tapo cameras. This aqara camera wasn’t cheap either.
It seems the Aqara G5 Pro’s motion detection isn’t exposed to SmartThings Home Monitor, so automations work only through the camera itself. This would be really nice if you can share your setup tips with others .
The Aeotec Cam 360 has one of the best SmartThings integrations. If I were you, I’d wait for the upcoming Matter cameras. Tapo is planning to release firmware updates for some of their cameras to add Matter support.
Edit:
TP-Link Tapo plans to make three security cameras — the Tapo C260, C560WS, and C660 Kit — compatible with Matter via a firmware update. Development is already underway; afterward, the updates will be submitted to the CSA for certification. The goal is to be among the first manufacturers to offer Matter-enabled cameras.
